Think about an expatriate's return as well
The Financial Times ran an interesting article under the headline "Expatriate employees struggle to readjust to old lives" in their 8 December 2016 issue (you can find it here). It describes a problem we have long been aware of: what to do with an expatriate once he or she returns from an international deployment. If a repatriation plan is not part and parcel of the initial discussions, companies run the risk that expatriates will be disappointed with further career prospects upon their return. We therefore make sure that this aspect of an overseas posting is covered right from the start.
